Kathryn Blatt Ancaya, PLA, LEED AP

Kate is a landscape architect and the Director of Design at Roots First. Kate’s passion for design is grounded in her interdisciplinary educational background and professional excellence in both archaeology and landscape architecture. Her curiosity and sensitivity to how humans interact and connect with their environments pushes her to explore ideas that encourage memorable and restorative landscapes. Kate’s design approach is nested closely with her belief that sensitive, ecologically responsive and restorative design can have a positive incremental impact on the social and environmental health of our surroundings. Kate graduated from Wake Forest University with a BA in Archaeology and received a Master of Landscape Architecture from NC State University. In addition to her leadership at Roots First, Kate is a co-founder of Living Roofs, Inc., a green roof design/build firm.
